Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said that the kingdom is discussing supplying Syria’s moderate armed opposition with lethal weapons with its partners in the international anti-terror coalition.
Jubeir pointed out that the kingdom is discussing this plan with its partners, including the United States and Britain, adding that the kingdom is already making steps in this regard. Jubeir said these steps will not be announced publicly.
Jubeir made it clear that balance on the battlefield in Syria must be changed so long as the political process is not going anywhere, adding that this is attainable only through increasing the flow and quantity of weaponry to moderate fighters in Syria, especially in Aleppo. He also said that Saudi Arabia’s partners in the international anti-terror coalition have already expressed support for the kingdom’s plans.
The Syrian Coalition on Monday reiterated that with the necessary support, and with a real will on the part of the international community, the FSA has shown it is the force most capable of defeating terrorism in all its forms in Syria. (Source: Syrian Coalition + CNN)
