US Secretary of State John Kerry said on Friday that Assad created “the largest humanitarian disaster of our times” when he brutally turned on his own people.
“Assad delivered, literally employing the long-forbidden weapon of mass destruction – gas – outlawed in World War I, employing it against his own people,” Kerry said in a speech to the 2016 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Kerry added that the US-led coalition has so far conducted nearly 10,000 airstrikes against ISIS, stressing that this reflects how effective a united air force of the US-led coalition could be.
Kerry pointed out that the US-led coalition is cooperating with local elements in its war against ISIS, adding that they have achieved important victories in the war against terrorism through targeting ISIS’s financing channels.
