Senator John McCain, chairman of the US Senate Armed Services Committee said l that the Russian strikes against individuals and groups trained by the United States is aimed primarily to prop up the Assad regime in an interview with CNN channel.
McCain stresses that the American lukewarm reaction encouraged the Russians to carry out such attacks, adding that the US should tell the Russians “we are going to fly everywhere we want to and you better stay out of the way.”
McCain pointed out that the window of opportunity is still open for Obama to stop the fall of the barrel bombs on civilians in Syria, to establish a no-fly zone, and re-construct the Free Syrian Army.
At a press conference held on October 30 at the UN headquarters in New York in response to Russia’s airstrikes on Syria, President Khoja said that “it has become clear that Russia’s claims about intervening in Syria to combat ISIS is just a cover for its attempts to prolong the life of a regime that has lost legitimacy by committing heinous crimes against the Syrian people.”
“Despite using his cache of weapons, Assad cannot break the Syrian people’s will to regain freedom and dignity. Barely controlling 14% of Syrian territory, the Iranian occupation and sectarian militias have failed to salvage the Assad regime. Likewise, the Russian occupation will fail and will only suffer losses,” Khoja added. (Source: Syrian Coalition + Agencies)
