Qatar’s Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani urged the international community to reach a comprehensive political settlement and a complete change in Syria in order to save it from the risk of further fragmentation that would have serious implications for the Syrian state and society as well as the whole region.
Speaking during the 10th edition of Al Jazeera Forum held in Doha on Monday, Al-Thani attributed the tragedy of the Syrian people to the failure of the international community to deal firmly and seriously with it.
Al-Thani added that the tragedy unfolding in Syria shows the failure of the international collective security system and the paradox between the international commitment acknowledged by the Security Council member states to maintain international peace and security, and political considerations that serve the interests of some countries in the implementation of these responsibilities.
Al-Thani also called for bringing perpetrators of crimes against humanity in Syria to account. (Source: Syrian Coalition + Agencies)
