Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal stated that “Bashar Al-Assad would not have any future role in Syria, and the solution of the conflict should be based on the communique of Geneva I conference, which called for forming an interim government with executive powers,” during a joint news conference with his British counterpart Philip Hammond.
Visiting British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said there is no chance for Bashar al-Assad to have a role in the future of Syria.
Hammond, who is on a visit to Saudi Arabia, told the press that his country supports moderate Syrian opposition and efforts to stop the flow of fighters and money to the Islamic State (IS). Military operations are not the only solution to defeat the IS, he said.
Spokesman for the Syrian Coalition Salem al-Meslet said that toppling the head of the regime and all those responsible for the crimes committed against the Syrian people a is still key goal of the Syrian Coalition to ensure a transition to civilian, democratic, and pluralistic system that guarantees the freedoms of all citizens and their rights.
