The President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi al-Bahra, said that the ongoing bombardment by the Assad regime and its allies on civilians in northern Syria is pushing the region toward further escalation and instability.
In a post on the X platform, al-Bahra said, “The Assad regime views international silence and impunity, as well as the continued obstruction of Security Council resolutions by its supporters, as a green light to commit more crimes and violations against Syrian civilians.”
Al-Bahra emphasized the Assad regime’s disregard for international law, stating: “Yesterday, regime forces and their allies bombed an institute for teaching Islamic and Arabic sciences to children in the town of Ariha, in Idlib countryside, killing three people and injuring 14 others. The regime remains indifferent to international norms, treaties, and commitments, continuing war crimes and violations against civilians and rejecting any efforts toward a political solution.”
The Assad regime and its allies have recently intensified their bombardment of liberated areas, leading to civilian casualties.
