The President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi Al-Bahra, joined the residents of Afrin in celebrating Nowruz on Thursday, extending heartfelt wishes to the Kurdish community and all Syrians, both at home and abroad. He expressed hopes for a new year marked by an end to the suffering, tyranny, injustice, exclusion, and discrimination.
In his address, Al-Bahra remarked, “Today, we commemorate Nowruz, a festival symbolizing spring, peace, freedom, solidarity, brotherhood, and the quest for dignity, justice, freedom, and democracy.”
Highlighting the resilience displayed over thirteen years of struggle against tyranny, Al-Bahra envisioned a future where Nowruz becomes a national holiday in a liberated Syria, celebrating the unity of the Syrian people across diverse backgrounds under the banner of equal citizenship, the rule of law, and a democratic political system.
Emphasizing the unity of Syrians, encompassing Arabs, Kurds, Syriacs, Assyrians, Turkmen, Armenians, Circassians, and others, alongside their various religions, beliefs, and sects, Al-Bahra pledged collective efforts to uphold civil peace, foster coexistence, and resist any attempts to sow division and hatred within the nation.
