Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Abdul Hakim Bashar, stressed that the PYD terrorist militia has increased its violations against the people of the region and the Kurdish National Council, due to its fear of the Council’s influence. These terrorist acts are pushing young people to emigrate and preventing their contribution to the advancement of the region.
Bashar made these remarks during a meeting with the representative of the Kurdish National Council in the city of Erbil in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, where he discussed the increasing violations committed by the PYD militia in the region east of the Euphrates.
Bashar emphasized that the rise in violations by the PYD militia is clear evidence of their fear of the Council’s vision and message, which resonates more strongly in the Kurdish community than the PYD militia’s narrative, despite the PYD’s military, media, and economic power in the region.
Bashar stressed the need to continue the peaceful struggle in a civilized manner that unsettles the PKK terrorist organization and its affiliates. He added that the ongoing restrictions on the Council are aimed not only at intimidating its members but also at provoking the Council’s supporters to react violently, thus providing the PYD militia with justification for their actions.
Bashar touched on the situation in the Afrin region and the constant return of families to their hometowns from Aleppo, Beirut, or Türkiye. He noted the importance of continuing to provide services to the people and appreciated the role of charities and organizations, especially the Barzani Charity Foundation, which was the first to offer its services in the region.
Bashar also met with the French Foreign Ministry’s envoy to northeastern Syria, Fabrice Diblishan, and discussed the difficult economic situation of the region’s people, as well as the continued kidnapping of minor children by the PYD terrorist militia.
Bashar called on France to play a positive role by pressuring the militia to stop kidnapping and recruiting children. He stressed that the PYD militia’s policy of terrorism, through its armed tools and military and security arms, is emptying the region of youth who could contribute to the renaissance of society in all economic, political, and cultural aspects.
