The General Assembly of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) will convene a meeting in the town of Tal Abyad, Raqqa province on Thursday. The meeting will address the latest military and political developments in the region and their impact on Syria. Participants will review the Political Committee’s report and discuss the Coalition’s strategy to address emerging challenges and shifts in international and regional political stances. The Assembly will also evaluate the performance of working groups, departments, and committees.
The situation of Syrian refugees in Lebanon will be a key topic, along with the conditions of those returning to Syria. Many refugees have been forced to flee to other areas or return due to the escalation of military operations by the Israeli occupation and discriminatory practices by Lebanese authorities, including the denial of shelter, food, and medicine.
The Assembly will also review reports from various ministries of the Syrian Interim Government regarding efforts to improve living conditions and services in the liberated areas and to accommodate thousands of Syrians returning from Lebanon. Additionally, discussions will focus on taxes and fees in the liberated regions, exploring ways to unify them under a legal framework and centralize collection through a specialized department affiliated with the Ministry of Finance.
