President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi Al-Bahra, delivered a speech on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, extending warm congratulations and blessings to the Syrian people and the Arab and Islamic nations. He prayed that the next Eid would witness Syria and its people celebrating amidst justice, freedom, and liberation from the tyrannical regime that continues to perpetrate murder and oppression.
Al-Bahra emphasized that the fundamental human and constitutional rights of the Syrian people, including independence, unity, sovereignty, freedom of detainees, knowledge of the fate of the disappeared, and achievement of justice for victims, are immutable rights upon which citizens’ obligations to their country are built. These rights and aspirations, Al-Bahra highlighted, were the driving force behind the Syrian people’s uprising and sacrifices.
Renewing the SOC’s commitment to alleviate the Syrian people’s suffering, Al-Bahra underscored the importance of cooperation to end injustice, corruption, and chaos, particularly in liberated areas. He envisioned these areas as pivotal in unifying Syria’s land and people and facilitating the safe return of displaced Syrians while preserving their dignity and rights.
Al-Bahra saluted the resilience and determination of the Syrian people in reclaiming their rights and freedom, expressing unwavering confidence in their ability to achieve a free, democratic, united, and pluralistic Syria.
Al-Bahra stressed that the aspirations for freedom and peace resonate across Syria, from north to south and east to west, echoing the sentiments of the revolution that began thirteen years ago. In conclusion, he pledged to dedicate all efforts toward achieving a genuine and credible political solution that aligns with the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people, reinstating Syria’s sovereignty, unity, independence, and territorial integrity in accordance with international resolutions, particularly Security Council Resolutions 2254 and 2118.
Additionally, he prayed for an end to the bloodshed of innocent civilians in Gaza and for peace to prevail in the region and the world.
