The Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Abdul Majeed Barakat, stated that Iran, its sectarian militias, and the Hezbollah militia are responsible for bombings in civilian areas in Syria, resulting in the deaths of innocent civilians across various regions.
In a press statement, Barakat highlighted that Iran’s malicious agenda, rooted in expansionism, sedition, and sectarianism, has brought destruction to Syria and other countries, undermining security and destabilizing the region.
Barakat emphasized that Iran, its sectarian militias, and the Hezbollah terrorist militia intervened in Syria to defend the dictatorial rule of Bashar al-Assad, leading to the killing of innocent civilians and the suppression of the Syrian revolution. These actions have resulted in widespread brutal crimes over the past 13 years.
Barakat called for serious international action against Iran’s crimes in Syria and the region. He urged the international community to work towards activating the political process in Syria and implementing relevant UN resolutions, particularly the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN Resolutions 2118 and 2254.
