The President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi al-Bahra, along with his accompanying delegation, held a meeting with representatives of civil, social, and cultural institutions, as well as the Syrian Tribal Council, in the town of Tal Abyad in Raqqa province. They discussed the latest field and political developments in Syria and explored the town’s needs.
Accompanying President al-Bahra were the Secretary of the political committee, Abdulbasit Abdullatif, and political committee members Bahjat al-Atassi and Mohammad Ali Issa, as well as General Assembly members Hussein al-Raad and Mohammad al-Hamdo.
Hadi al-Bahra provided a political briefing on the outcomes of the SOC’s recent meetings with foreign diplomats, the latest political process updates, and the impact of regional and international crises on Syria.
Al-Bahra emphasized that there are no serious international efforts to address the Syrian conflict. He reaffirmed that implementing a political solution based on international resolutions, particularly the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN Resolutions 2118 and 2254, is the only way to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Syria, halt the waves of refugees heading to Europe, and restore security and stability to the region.
He also stressed the need to continue efforts to improve services and living conditions in the liberated areas, revive the economy, and attract investments to the region. Al-Bahra reiterated the importance of unity and cooperation to change the situation in Syria and enforce the political solution.
For their part, representatives of civil, social, and cultural institutions in Tal Abyad spoke about the difficulties they face in revitalizing the economy. They requested assistance in securing agricultural machinery and obtaining suitable seeds, as well as enhancing cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture in the Syrian Interim Government.
They also highlighted the importance of support in export operations, reducing shipping fees, and preventing traders from exploiting farmers by setting reasonable wheat prices.
