Abdul Majeed Barakat, Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), conducted an inspection tour of sports facilities in the town of Afrin in the Aleppo countryside. During his visit, he explored the Sports and Youth Directorate and other areas to assess plans for hosting running competitions, including a marathon, in the region.
Accompanying Barakat were Ahmed Al-Khatib, head of the Sports and Youth Commission in the Syrian Interim Government, Samer Ghuneim, a commission member, Shaaban Jumaa, Head of the Free Syrian Football Federation, and Raed Melhem, a member of the Free Syrian Football Federation and supervisor of the disciplinary committee.
Barakat commended the activities and events organized by the Sports and Youth Directorate in Afrin, emphasizing the importance of sustaining efforts to promote sports activities in liberated areas and ensuring widespread access for all members of society.
Expressing gratitude, Barakat thanked Turkish official institutions for their significant contributions to sports development in liberated areas, particularly their support for the success of the Free Syrian Football League. He also presented a shield of appreciation to Turkish sports official Mehmet Arcik.
