The National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces (“Syrian Coalition” or “SC”) announced the appointment of Dr. Najib Al-Ghadban as the Syrian Coalition’s Special Representative to the US and the opening of its United States Office in Washington, DC, on February 26, 2013.
The Washington Office serves as the SC’s official liaison to the US government and foreign policy community on matters relating to the pro-democracy movement, including coordination and delivery of much-needed humanitarian aid to Syria. The SC represents the united opposition supporting the Syrian revolution and working to establish peace, freedom, and democracy for all Syrians. Our Washington Office reaches out to all Syrian Americans and Syrian nationals in the US, in order to help move Syria forward with unity and cooperation toward an inclusive, democratic future.
Special Representative Ghadbian, a pro-democracy activist and Professor of Political Science at the University of Arkansas, holds a PhD in Political Science from the City University of New York. He is a published scholar in Arabic and English, and he has long been active in the Syrian pro-democracy movement, including as a signatory to the Damascus Declaration in 2005 and a co-founder of the Syrian National Council in 2011.
