Israeli warplanes attacked a military base near the coastal city of Latakia on Thursday, October 31, news reports indicated. The Syrian Coalition condemns any and all attacks on Syrian land. It holds the Assad regime fully responsible for the current miserable state of Syria, where the Syrian Army is weakened by the bloody war it has launching against its own people. This has left the country exposed to all kinds of assaults, and the Assad regime does not even dare to respond.
The Assad regime was able to turn the Syrian Army from its main role of protecting the people, into a killing machine. This regime, which had claimed to be a regime of “resistance” has repeatedly gone silent or issued empty, hollow threats over attacks on Syrian land. The Assad regime has thus redefined national sovereignty as only safeguarding the interests of the ruling clique. The regime, moreover, has brought sectarian terrorist gangs into Syria to ensure this outcome.
The Syrian Coalition expresses its regret over the international community’s failure to put an end to the Assad regime’s savage practices. The UN Security Council has a duty of maintaining international peace and security and saving the lives of innocent people in times of conflicts and grave crises.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
