Press Statement
Syrian Coalition
Istanbul, Turkey
December 9, 2013
The Syrian Coalition firmly rejects the targeting of health personnel and facilities. It reiterates its commitment to the guiding principles of the Syrian revolution and its respect for international law. Furthermore, the Syrian Coalition insists that all those involved in damaging health facilities be brought to justice.
The Syrian Coalition expresses its gratitude to the United Nations and its partners for their great efforts in alleviating the suffering of hundreds of thousands of Syrians. It wishes to remind the world that the Assad regime has literally adopted a policy of bombing field hospitals and arresting and killing medical staff.
Assad has recently admitted he has elements working for him within the ranks of rebel fighters, which sheds some light on some of the violations committed in liberated areas.
The Syrian Coalition salutes heroes of the Free Syrian Army and calls upon them to continue to protect civilians and ensure the safety of health personnel under any circumstances.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
