The Syrian Coalition condemns yesterday’s terrorist attack which killed former cabinet minister Dr. Mohammad Chatah in Beirut. This is a cowardly act aimed at destabilizing Lebanon and undermining its security. It serves the interests of the Assad regime which, along with its allies in Lebanon, are driving the region into total destruction and chaos.
Our hearts go out to the Lebanese people as they lose a person who stood for reason and reconciliation. We call on the Lebanese government to assume its responsibilities and put an end to lawlessness which provides a catalyst for terrorist militias to operate in Lebanon with impunity.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
