The Syrian Opposition Coalition congratulates Syria’s Syriac Assyrians on the occasion of Akitu holiday which falls on April 1st, marking first day of the Assyrian Babylonian year.
We congratulate all Syrians on this day as we all hope that we will overcome these difficult conditions. We also hope that by the next Akitu, will have been closer to achieving the goals and regaining rights of the Syrian people to freedom, justice, and dignity, and that we live as true partners in a country that respects Syria’s cultural diversity and passes it on to future generations.
The circumstances we are currently going through require exercising utmost caution, which means that this holiday should be observed with minimal gatherings while observing the instructions issued by the health officials to avoid gatherings and visits.
