The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) on Tuesday issued a report detailing the Assad regime forces and their allied militias’ large-scale looting of the towns and villages they captured in northwestern Syria over the past year.
The Network said that the Assad regime forces and their allied militias have looted 30 no fewer than towns and villages in northern Hama countryside, southern Idlib countryside, and western Aleppo countryside since April 26, 2019.
The Network indicated that the loot is being sold in the town of Al-Suqaylabiyah in Hama countryside. Regime forces did the same with the loot they seized during their capture of Homs city and Hama province between 2012 and 2013.
According to the report, 98 percent of civilians in the liberated areas flee the advancing regime forces despite the severe cold, the lack of tents and basic necessities of life.
The Assad regime forces, with Russian support, launched a large-scale military operation in northwestern Syria where they committed atrocious crimes against civilians. They also targeted public facilities and medical centers with the aim of displacing the population, which triggered the largest wave of mass displacement towards the Turkish border since 2011.
