We welcome The European Union announcement today to provide €136 million in humanitarian aid to Syrians in dire need of assistance. The EU has always been at the forefront offering assistance to the Syrian people affected by the ongoing conflict. The new funds will make it possible for the EU’s partners to provide clean water, food, shelter, blankets, and medicine for hundreds of thousands of people in need inside and outside Syria.
Host communities remain under enormous pressure, and they need all the help that can be offered to accommodate increasing numbers of Syrian refugees. Therefore, we call on donor countries to step up their assistance and deliver on their promises, which is vital to alleviating the suffering of hundreds of thousand of Syrian families.
