Press Statement
Syrian Coalition
Istanbul, Turkey
January 11, 2014
The Syrian Coalition extends its deepest condolences to the families of the heroes who died trying to break the Assad regime siege of Old Homs. We ask God to have mercy on their pure souls.
The Syrian Coalition commends the Free Syrian Army fighters for their bravery, defending the Syrian people against the most brutal regime of the 21st century. We call on fighting battalions to close ranks and unite in face of a criminal regime to break the siege on Homs and open the way for aid convoys to deliver basic foods and medicine to Homs.
It is inconceivable and categorically unacceptable that the international community remains silent while the Syrian people are dying from hunger in a “starvation until submission campaign” as one of Assad’s senior officers once described.
The tyrannical regime, and those behind him, will not be able to break the will of the Syrian people who will continue to struggle to gain the freedom, justice, and democracy they have always longed for.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
