News reports emerged yesterday of an Israeli aerial attack on Syrian territories targeting a military missile convoy on its way to Lebanon. Media sources stated that the shipment was being delivered by Hezbollah troops.
We are aware that the regime’s response to this attack will be restricted to denial, or stating that they “have the right to respond,” which is Assad’s official response to Israel’s attacks. Meanwhile, Assad’s destructive machines continue to attack the Syrian people, with little or no regard for external aggression and threats.
The regime has used its forces to suppress the popular demands of the people for change, weakening Syrian defense, and thus allowing external occupying forces to hit Syrian locations. Israel’s actions, including its preemptive attacks to weaken Syrian defenses, demonstrate a fear of losing the years of peace that the Assad regime provided for Israel.
The Syrian Coalition deeply regrets the inaction of the international community amidst grievous violations at many levels. We demand that the Security Council, with the support of the international community, performs its duties to save Syrians from this major humanitarian crisis. We implore them to do whatever is necessary to protect Syrian civilians and innocent lives.
We ask for mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our prisoners.
