The Syrian Coalition views the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) as a supporter of the Assad regime and a participant in its military wing that is working together with Assad against the interests of the Syrian people and the principles of the revolution for the following reasons:
- The organization’s (PYD) link to external agendas that call for the establishment of a new state within the Syrian state, transgressing the sovereignty, security and national independence.
- Its frequent repressive practices – through its military wing – and its attacks on the freedoms of Arab and Kurdish citizens over the past months.
- Resorting to violence in dealing with civilians, and initiating hostilities with battalions and brigades of the Free Syrian Army and fabricating crises aimed at distracting the Free Syrian Army’s efforts in addition to the stabbing the FSA in the back in more than one occasion.
- Its military wing has stopped fighting the regime on several fronts and has moved to strengthen its positions in the liberated areas, thus threatening the safety of civilians and restoring the history of the suppression of the Baath Party and Assad’s army with its thuggish militia.
The Syrian Coalition calls on all honest activists in this organization to either rectify the disgraceful path being followed by this organization, or to declare their repudiation of it and return to the ranks of the Syrian Revolution.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
