At least 23 civilians, including 7 children and 9 women, were killed in airstrikes by the international anti-ISIS coalition aircraft on the village of Heisha in rural Raqqa on Tuesday.
The Syrian Coalition condemns this horrific incident and any targeting of civilians as it stresses the need to stop these repeated incidents. The Coalition reiterates calls for a thorough investigation into such incidents and for reviewing the rules procedure of operations against ISIS and holding accountable those responsible.
The US Central Command on Wednesday announced that 26 civilians had been killed in US airstrikes in Syria between November 2015 and September 2016. However, independent human rights groups believe that the number is very much higher. The US announcement indicates that no enough precautions have been taken yet by the anti-ISIS coalition forces.
The Syrian people appreciate all efforts to eradicate the ISIS extremist group; however, they are fully aware, and the whole world is, that the Assad regime is the source and root cause of terrorism. Terrorism will continue to spread unless decisive action is taken to dry up its source.
