The treacherous attack by the Assad regime and Russian occupation forces on a position belonging to the Syrian National Army (SNA) in the village of Ankawi in western rural Hama at dawn today represents a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement and the de-escalation zone agreement.
We call on all SNA groups and observation points in the region to take utmost care and stay on full alert to confront these attacks.
International parties must condemn this blatant violation of the understandings and agreements in place, and exert real pressure on the Assad regime and its backers to stop their attacks and violations that further disrupt the political process.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition offers its heartfelt condolences to the families and comrades of the SNA fighters who died in this treacherous attack.
