The Russian air force has committed yet a new heinous crime against innocent civilians, adding to its endless litany of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Earlier on Friday, a Russian airstrike killed seven civilians, including four children, and wounded many others. The airstrike hit a civilian home of a displaced family on the outskirts of the town of Al-Janudiyah in rural Idlib.
The atrocities of the Assad regime, Putin and their allies have not stopped over the past several years, nor did those honor any of the ceasefire agreements and calls for de-escalation. These crimes are the result of the lack of a serious international deterrent action in spite of the abundant evidence on these crimes.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) stresses that letting the Syrian people suffer at the hands of the Assad regime and its allies is a crime the responsibility for which rests with the international community in view of its silence and indifference. The crime continues, and the blood of the Syrians has not dried up for eleven years in view of the absence of effective action by the international community to hold this regime accountable or expel it from Syria.
The crimes that are taking place in Syria are being repeated in Ukraine and will be repeated in other countries if Russia is not stopped and the sources of terrorism, killing and destruction are not eliminated, namely the Assad regime and Iran’s militias.
