The Iranian occupation authorities added a new instrument of corruption and ruination to their arrays of instruments that that they are using to impose their hegemony on Syria and prop up the crumbling murderous regime by opening an Iranian consulate in the city of Aleppo.
Like all other instruments that bear official names such as a consulate, chancellery or embassy, this step is but part of the plans to build a hotbed of terror and sabotage as well as for the spread of its subversive, delusive and sectarian ideology.
Since the start of the Syrian Revolution, the Iranian regime has avidly sough to undermine all opportunities for a solution as it has engaged in a direct war against the Syrian people. It has thrown all its weight behind the tyrannical regime, and has participated in the suppression, mass killing and displacement of the Syrian civilians. Moreover, Iran is playing a pivotal role in disrupting the negotiations process; insists on imposing the Assad regime on the Syrian people; and seeks to turn Syria into a launch pad for chaos and terrorism.
It is about time that the international community assume its responsibilities towards what is going on in Syria; restore the initiative; and exert the necessary pressure to enforce UN Security Council resolutions. Serious action is also required to bring about a real political solution that fulfils the aspirations the Syrian people; ensures the withdrawal of all occupation forces and terrorist militias from Syria; saves the detainees; and paves the way for the return of the refugees and the start of the reconstruction of Syria.
