The shelling that targeted Al-Maghara Hospital near the town of Atarib in rural Aleppo on Sunday constitute a war crime and a crime against humanity. The attack killed five people, including a child, a woman and a medical worker as well as wounded many others, including the director of healthcare in Aleppo Nawar Kurdiya. The attack also caused widespread damage to the facility.
This crime requires immediate action by the international community and the countries concerned with ending the brutal war that the Assad regime and its allies are waging against the Syrian people.
We are communicating with international parties to urge them to shoulder their responsibilities and exert the necessary pressure to restrain the regime and its allies. We also warn of the consequences of continued inaction by the international community towards these crimes and the possible consequences of a new escalation.
It is imperative that the international community impose a political solution in accordance with UN resolutions and put an end to the unbearable suffering civilians are going through as a result of the Assad regime and its allies’ continuing attacks, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
