The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) condemns the horrific murder of media activist Muhammad Abdul Latif, also known as Abu Ghannoum, and his pregnant wife in the town of al-Bab northeast of Aleppo on Friday. He was a revolutionary activist who contributed to conveying the voice of the revolution and the demands of the free people for many years.
The SOC extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Abu Ghannoum and his wife, asking Allah to grant them forgiveness and mercy.
Maintaining security and stability in the freed territories requires stepping up the efforts and showing greater diligence. It is also necessary to launch an immediate investigation into the crime and hold the perpetrators to account.
Undermining the security and stability of the freed territories must not be tolerated. We therefore call on the Syrian National Army to show zero tolerance towards whoever seeks to harm our people, their cities, towns and livelihoods.
We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.
