The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) condemns the recent attack and burning of the office of the Kurdish National Council in Amuda, Hasakah province, by the PYD terrorist militia. This heinous act underscores the PYD militia’s intent to intimidate the population and undermine any political dissent not aligned with its extremist agendas.
The endless violations committed by the PYD terrorist militia highlight its antagonistic stance towards all Syrians, particularly targeting Kurds, Arabs, and other ethnic groups. This suppression of any national projects in the areas under its control mirrors the oppressive tactics employed by the Assad regime against the Syrian people.
The SOC emphasizes that such actions by the PYD militia pose a grave threat to the security and stability of the region. Coupled with the atrocities perpetrated by the Assad regime, these activities impede progress towards a political resolution in Syria, as outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 2254 (2015). Syrians yearn for a future founded on principles of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.
