The rocket shelling that targeted a public market in the town of al-Bab in rural Aleppo at the hands of the PYD terrorist militia on Wednesday constitute a new war crime that is added the PYD’s litany of attacks against civilians. The bloody attack came only a few days after a similar attack that targeted the town of Afrin.
The terrorist attack on Al-Bab is a treacherous criminal act that aims to terrorize civilians, undermine stability, and trigger a new wave of refugees.
The bloody attack on al-Bab coincided with the 40th anniversary of the Hama Massacre, which shows the striking similarity between the practices of this terrorist organization and those of the murderous Assad regime as well as their involvement in war crimes against all components of the Syrian people.
The SOC calls for assuming a firm international stance towards the terrorism being practiced by the PYD militia. It also calls for an end to all types of support or cover for this militia no matter the pretext.
The SOC denounces the silence about the crimes these groups are committing as it renews the calls for dismantling and forcing all terrorist groups and militias as well as all foreign fighters from Syria.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims as we wish the wounded a speedy recovery.
