The terrorist bombing that rocked the industrial zone in the town of Afrin earlier today must put all parties in front of their responsibilities. The scenes of bodies of children torn to pieces, innocent civilians maimed, and widespread devastation cannot continue indefinitely.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) calls for real international cooperation to confront the terrorism that targets the Syrian people with bombings, car bombs and warplanes.
The SOC will take all possible measures to hunt down and hold accountable all those involved in this crime, which clearly bears the hallmarks of the Assad regime, its allied Iranian militias, and their terrorist tools, including the PYD militia.
We offer our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wish the wounded a speedy recovery. Putting an end to these crimes is possible if all international and regional parties shoulder their responsibilities in accordance with international resolutions.
The breaches that terrorists are exploiting to reach our towns and villages must be addressed once and for all. Specialized institutions of the Syrian Interim Government and the Syrian National Army has launched an investigation into the bombings and are now tracking down terrorist organizations. They need more international support to ensure the safety and security of civilians.
The language of terrorism is the alternative that the regime wants to impose on the Syrian people after obstructing the political solution, which requires that the international community assume its responsibility. There is no place to repeat previous mistakes by making empty threats and issuing mere condemnations.
