The anniversary of the glorious Syrian revolution is an annual occasion to reaffirm our commitment to its principles, ideals and aspirations. Today the tenth anniversary represents an exceptional opportunity for reasserting this commitment and promoting the culture and spirit that triggered the revolution with the participation of all the people of Syria.
A new generation of Syrians, at home and abroad, in cities and camps, in the liberated areas and in the host countries are now part of this revolution and partners in shaping its future. It is our duty to pass the legacy of this revolution, its ethics and ideals to this generation so as they contribute to defending and carrying its torch until victory.
Commitment to the goals of the revolution is not just a word or a chant, but rather a concrete behavior that is consistent with human rights as well as the values and principles of freedom of opinion and expression, a behavior that believes in equal citizenship without any discrimination.
We renew our call on all Syrians to avoid falling into the trap of sectarianism, discrimination, anarchy and nihilism that the Assad regime has long sought to plant in the fabric of the Syrian people. The regime has also been desperately trying to portray the Syrian revolution as directed against a single segment. Indeed, it is a revolution of a great people in which Syrians from all religions and ethnicities participated against an oppressive terrorist regime whose crimes have been unprecedented in Syria’s history.
The Syrian people will not allow any exploitation of the great principles and noble values for which the Syrians have made enormous sacrifices, nor will they remain silent over using it in any way that might discredit the principles of the revolution. The chant of the revolution ‘the Syrian people are one’ is not just a slogan, but a principle and a value of this great revolution.
The squares are open for chants that express the aspirations of the Syrian people and the goals of their revolution. They are a place for work, struggle, patience, dedication and devotion. All Syrians are invited to uphold the values of the revolution through their behavior and defending it against any discourse that might discredit or violate its aspirations.
