The bombardment carried out by the Russian occupation planes on the town of Al-Bab in northern rural Aleppo on Wednesday represents a serious violation and a dangerous escalation threatening the existing agreements and understandings that have helped maintain relative calm in the region in recent months.
The airstrikes killed a child and wounded others, including women and children, and caused widespread damage near the city center. It is a new crime that is added to Assad regime and Russia’s endless litany of the most horrible crimes.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition condemns this criminal act as it holds the Russian occupation fully responsible for this crime and for the serious consequences that could arise from this dangerous escalation. This crime represents a threat to the existing understandings reached to ensure a de-escalation in the region.
