Media Statement
Syrian Coalition
Istanbul, Turkey
July 10, 2013
The Syrian Coalition urges the United Nations Commission of Inquiry to enter the liberated areas of Syria and investigate the use of internationally prohibited chemical weapons.
The Syrian Coalition is ready to provide all of the support the commission needs to gather samples from the ground and conduct a partial and transparent investigation. We will ensure the safe entry and exit of all members of the Commission.
It is imperative that this investigation takes place as soon as possible and that those responsible are brought to justice.
Assad’s regime must answer the international call for an inquiry and allow the Commission unfettered access to all parts of Syria.
Evidence provided by parties that support Assad’s tyrannical regime with money, weapons, and ammunition is false and clearly fabricated. The Syrian people consider Russia, Assad’s partner in the murder of innocent Syrian civilians. The recent Russian analysis on the use of chemical weapons in Khan al-Assal is a desperate attempt by Russia to deceive the world and justify Assad’s crimes.
The Syrian Coalition condemns these desperate attempts. We call on the international community and Friends of Syria to assume their humanitarian and political responsibilities towards the Syrian people and put an end to the deteriorating situation in Syria.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
