Press Statement
Syrian Coalition
Istanbul, Turkey
October 31, 2013
The Syrian Coalition calls on the Russian Foreign Ministry to stop spreading rumors and fabricating lies against the opposition. The Coalition considers the Russian Ministry’s statement an attempt to exploit the painful history of the Kurds in general and the Syrian Kurds in particular.
The Syrian people expect the government of Russia to acknowledge realities of what has been going on in Syria, the first of which is the use of chemical weapons by the regime in Ghouta, Damascus, 21 August. The Syrian people further expect from a state that claims to be among the sponsors of a peace conference to show neutrality while it refuses to acknowledge the Syrian people’s legitimate aspirations of freedom, justice, and dignity.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
