The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) is closely following the horrific tragedy resulting from the terrorist bombing that ripped through the town of Azaz in the northern Aleppo countryside late on Wednesday. The attack targeted a checkpoint manned by police officers and civilian vehicles, resulting in the death of at least nine people and injuring around 11 others.
The SOC condemns this cowardly act and emphasizes the urgent need to establish security in the region by eliminating the threat posed by terrorist militias that target the stability of liberated areas and continuously seek to create chaos, crimes, and violations. It stresses the need to step up efforts in the liberated areas to protect civilians, apprehend those responsible for this terrorist act, impose the harshest penalties on them, and appropriately respond to those who seek to destabilize the liberated regions.
The SOC expresses its full solidarity with the victims’ families and extends its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. It wishes a swift recovery to the injured.
