The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) extends its heartfelt congratulations to the brotherly Libyan people for electing a prime minister and head of a presidential council. These elections will hopefully open a new chapter of joint action that serves Libya’s interests and put the country on the path of stability and construction.
The SOC also congratulates Head of the Presidency Council, Mohammed al-Menfi, and Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibeh
The cooperation amongst Libyans at the popular and political level under a national unity government, their commitment to the institutional and legal framework, and their respect for democracy will lead to more stability and prosperity for the benefit of the brotherly Libyan people and will achieve some of the goals of their revolution.
The SOC stands ready to work with the new interim government as it stresses that the success of this positive move will also be an asset for the Syrian people fighting for freedom and justice.
The international community and regional actors are required to support the new Libyan interim government as the sole, legitimate representative of the Libyan people, as well as to place the will of the Libyan people and the stability, unity and territorial integrity of Libya above any other considerations.
