The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) extends its sincere congratulations to all the Syrian people on the occasion of Nowruz, especially the Syrian Kurds, in addition to the Kurds everywhere, for whom this day represents an occasion of great national, cultural and social importance.
Throughout history, Nowruz has been a symbol of freedom and emancipation from oppression and tyranny. Despite the difficult reality that our revolution is going through, the Syrian people still cherish hopes and aspirations to live in a homeland free of injustice, oppression, crime and occupation. They also cling to the hope for the human being who is able to build a common future, the hope that stems from strength truth, freedom, and dignity, and from the confidence that what is right will emerge victorious no matter how many forces of falsehood allied against it.
At the end of his epic, the hero Kawa was able to achieve salvation for his Kurdish family and restore the sun of freedom in the sky of his country. The Syrian Kurds have proven that they are the descendants of Kawa. They were in the forefront when the revolution of freedom and dignity began against the murderous Assad regime in Amuda, Afrin, Ayn al-Arab (Kobani), Qamishli, Rukn ad-Din suburb of Damascus, and in Al-Ashrafiyah district of Aleppo.
Today, our people in the east of the Euphrates with all their components, especially the Kurds, need to cooperate in order to renew the spirit of the Syrian Revolution and to rise again against the murderous Assad regime and against the terrorist PYD militia, which is affiliated with the PKK organization, and force them to Qandil Mountain from where they came.
On the occasion of Nowruz, the SOC calls on the international community to stop providing a cover for these militias that falsely claim to represent the Kurds and which are responsible for the majority of violations against them. We also call for ending support for these militias, forcing them to release detainees, put an end to torture, and an end to the kidnapping and recruitment of children.
The struggle of the Syrian people was and still carries the meanings of Nowruz in emancipation from injustice and spreading freedom and peace. This struggle is also a project to safeguard the political, social, cultural and religious rights as well as preserve the civilizational heritage of our country. We must all believe that the struggle to preserve the rights of all as partners in the homeland is the real guarantee for the new Syria.
May our wounded recover, our detainees be free, and our fallen heroes rest in peace.
Long live Nowruz as a symbol of freedom and emancipation.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
