The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) mourns Islamic scholar and renowned educator, Muhammad Adnan Al-Sakka who died of coronavirus in Istanbul on Saturday. It offer its deepest condolences to Al-Sakka’s family, his loved ones, and the entire Syrian people.
Al-Sakka was known for his principled stances against injustice and tyranny as well as firm support for the Syrian revolution and the Syrian people’s demands for freedom and dignity.
Born in the city of Homs in 1942, Al-Sakka held a master’s degree in Islamic studies and dedicated the bulk of his life to da’wah, teaching and writing. In addition to his calls for unity, he significantly contributed to rationalizing the Islamic thought in the city of Homs. He was also active in da’wah and educational work in many Sharia institutes across the Islamic world.
