The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) mourns prominent Syrian Islamic scholar Mustafa Muslim who passed away at the age of 81 in the Turkish city of Gaziantep on Saturday. He spent his lifetime in the pursuit of knowledge, education, and the interpretation of the Noble Qur’an.
In addition to presiding over Al Zahra’a University in Gaziantep, Muslim wrote dozens of books, researches and studies, some of which are being taught in universities across the Islamic world.
Muslim was a shining example the free and fearless scholar who did not succumb to the tyrant and who chose to side with the revolution of his people from day one. He was also a co-founder of the Syrian Islamic Council. He lived a great man with knowledge and dedicated his life for knowledge and truth.
Syria and the Islamic world lost a prominent scholar and a renowned interpreter of the Noble Qur’an. May Almighty Allah have mercy on him while giving his family and loved ones peace and solace.
Verily we belong to Allah, and verily to Him do we return.
