The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of Judge Mohammad Zidan, as well as to the judiciary the Ministry of Justice, his friends, colleagues, and the Syrian people. Judge Zidan tragically lost his life today in a senseless act of violence, which also left his brother injured in the village of Dalha near Souran, in rural Aleppo.
The SOC strongly condemns this reckless crime and has been closely following the case since it occurred. We demand that the suspects be handed over to the military police for a thorough investigation and subsequent transfer to the judiciary, where they will face justice under the law.
The SOC emphasizes the essential role and responsibility of the Ministries of Defense and Interior within the Interim Government in upholding security and enforcing laws to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
We reaffirm our commitment to continued coordination with the Syrian Interim Government to promote security, stability, and progress toward strengthening the rule of law in the liberated areas. The SOC also underscores the importance of the Ministry of Justice and fully supports efforts to establish an independent, fair, and impartial judiciary.
We extend our deepest sympathies for the loss of Judge Mohammad Zidan and wish patience and solace to his family and loved ones, along with a swift recovery for his injured brother.
Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him, we shall return.
