The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) reaffirms its full commitment to the demands and aspirations of the Syrian people, for which they have revolted and sacrificed greatly. These aspirations have been the guiding compass of the SOC’s work since its inception. The SOC emphasizes that its relationships with brotherly and friendly countries are founded on mutual respect for the rights and aspirations of the Syrian people, including their freedom to make independent decisions in accordance with their national interests. These relationships also honor the rights of those countries to establish policies that preserve their interests and national security. The SOC is keen to strengthen relations with allies in a way that serves common national interests and fulfills the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people, bringing prosperity and progress to all involved countries and peoples. It emphasizes the need to avoid those who promote enmity instead of friendship, as this weakens the revolution and divides its ranks.
The SOC calls on our free people to remain wise and not be drawn into the rumors and fake news spread by the Assad regime. This regime aims to divide the Syrian people and reinforce its “divide and rule” policy, which it has followed since the revolution began in 2011. The Assad regime seeks to turn Syrians against each other and weaken their relations with any brotherly or friendly country. Its main goal is to distract Syrians from their fundamental struggle against the regime, which remains the primary obstacle to achieving their lofty aspirations for justice, freedom, and democracy.
The SOC emphasizes the importance of ensuring citizens’ right to peaceful demonstration, protest, and freedom of expression while remaining committed to public security and the safety of public and private property.
The SOC stresses that the challenges and difficulties facing the Syrian revolution only strengthen its resolve and insistence on the validity of its demands. The root causes that drove the Syrian people to revolt against the regime still exist today and have even increased in depth, diversity, and spread. The voices of the free people of Syria continue to echo their demands for justice, freedom, and democracy. Today, they are more determined and committed to these values, which represent the guiding compass of the SOC’s work until they are achieved. The SOC remains steadfast against the tyranny of the regime and its supporters, their crimes against innocent civilians, and against transborder terrorist militias and their agents, defending the unity of Syria’s land and people against separatist projects.
The SOC underscores that the essence of the revolution is Syrian, and the solution must be Syrian. Sustainable peace cannot be achieved without justice for the victims of war crimes and crimes against humanity, the release of detainees, and information on the fate of the forcibly disappeared. Any solutions that do not address the grievances of the Syrian people and achieve their legitimate aspirations are partial solutions that lack the necessary elements for success. They cannot achieve sustainable security, stability, and peace, which are essential for revitalizing the economy, reuniting Syria’s land and people, and enabling the return of Syrians to their free and independent homeland. All of this begins with the full and strict implementation of Security Council resolutions on Syria, especially Resolution No. 2254 (2015), which is the only solution capable of enhancing regional and international security and stability, and achieving sustainable peace.
