Our dear people in our beloved country,
My fellow Syrians everywhere,
The situation in Syria has reached an unprecedented stage today.
Syria was once a source of exports to the world,
but now over 85% of its population are below poverty line.
More than 11 million are in need of humanitarian assistance.
For over fifty years, the freedom, economy and decision of the Syrian people have been hijacked,
even in the most basic of matters.
The revolution, therefore, aims to re-empower this people to regain their freedom and decision.
We in the forces of the revolution and the opposition say it loud and clear: Our goal is not to come to power, but to help the Syrian people freely choose its leadership.
The responsibility for the suffering of the Syrian people and the collapse of the economy lies squarely with Bashar Al-Assad and his clique.
They are to blame for everything that befell Syria and which is befalling it now.
The Assad regime has given in Syria’s major assets, economy, and future to Russia and Iran through humiliating agreements for which the Syrian people are paying a heavy price and for this gang to remain in power.
We have been reviewing these agreements and treaties and assessing their impact on the future and independence of Syria as they were reached by an illegitimate authority.
This thuggish clique is willing to make concessions to everyone except the Syrian people. It will also seek to circumvent the Caesar Act.
The Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act exclusively targets the interests of the regime, its security agencies, senior figures, and whichever countries, institutions, and individuals supporting it. It will prevent those criminals from taking advantage of the veto that has long blocked action on the UN Security Council.
Caesar Act does not target civilians but rather protects them as it excludes food supplies, humanitarian and medical assistance.
Let us all keep in mind that the Syrian people who revolted against this regime are making enormous sacrifices that are unprecedented in the history of humankind.
They have risen up for the sake of Syria,
for the sake of all the Syrian people,
and for the sake of all Syrian children,
and so that everyone lives in a free, decent, secure, and prosperous country.
Today the Syrian people, from all affiliations and backgrounds, have a real opportunity to shape the future of Syria which we all aspire for.
Do not waste this opportunity as lost opportunities cost a lot. They cost more lives and suffering. Our people can no longer bear more of these.
Each additional day in the life of this regime means the Syrian people will pay a heavier price.
This gang knows only the language of killing and destruction. It will resort to desperate measures, such as starting new wars and launching new attacks, in order to survive.
The future of Syria will remain dim as long as this ruling gang remains in power and insists on pursuing a military solution.
The recent revival of anti-regime demonstrations has profound implications
in terms of the slogans being chanted and the region these demonstrations are taking place.
We salute the heroic youth of Suwayda, Dara’a, Idlib, Damascus, Aleppo, Deir Ezzor, and of all other Syria cities and towns.
My Syrian brethren,
This thuggish regime is collapsing. What we are witnessing today is a prelude to the birth of a new Syria that will be based on the values of freedom, dignity and prosperity.
We all need to rise to this challenging and show a high sense of responsibility for the sake of our people and the future of our children.
Let’s show a high sense of unity and carry on with the revolution until victory.
Let’s move on to a better future for all of us.
