Al Karak Al Sharqi, a town on the countryside of Daraa, was bombarded twice yesterday by Assad forces. The second shelling occurred at 10 pm. Reports indicate that at least 11 people were killed, including 8 women and 3 children. Furthermore, many residents have had to flee their homes due to the heavy shelling.
The Syrian Coalition warns that civilians in the area of Horan, in Daraa, are at risk of torture and starvation; a tactic Assad forces deploy regularly in attempt to break the will of the Syrian people who seek freedom and dignity.
The Syrian Coalition wishes to remind the international community of its responsibility to put an end to Assad’s crimes against the Syrian people. The international community must stop Assad’s continued infringement of international charters and covenants and prevent the systematic targeting of residential areas by Assad forces.
The Syrian people need the strong support of the international community in order to free themselves from Assad’s widespread oppression and achieve the freedom and dignity they deserve.
We ask for mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
