Press Statement

The Syrian Coalition condemns the Assad regime’s attack on Al Braa Bin Malik Mosque in the village of Yadouda, rural Daraa. A car bomb that went off near the mosque earlier today killed nearly 20 civilians and wounded many more.
The Syrian Coalition calls on the UN Security Council to agree on a resolution that puts an end to the killing of civilians and stops the bloodshed in Syria. Russia and China must join the international community and back such a resolution, as an international consensus is the only way to reach a solution on Syria that meets the Syrian people’s aspirations for freedom, justice, and dignity.
The Assad regime has targeted dozens of mosques since the start of the uprising, especially on Fridays when mosques flood with people attending the Friday prayers. The regime has consistently attempted to break the will of the Syrian people by collectively punishing civilians who oppose its tyrannical rule. The Syrian people decided they will no longer tolerate tyranny and injustice, and the Assad regime can no longer silence their voices calling for freedom and democracy.
We ask God for mercy for the souls of the victims and we offer our condolences to their families and friends.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
