Press Release
Syrian Coalition
Istanbul, Turkey
February 19, 2014
The Syrian Coalition condemns in the strongest possible terms the Assad regime’s deplorable policy of targeting innocent civilians in Syria. At least 19 civilians were killed on Tuesday, after Assad’s forces dropped barrel bombs on the village of al Mzaireeb in rural Daraa.
The regime shamelessly claims to want to end the suffering of the Syrian people, whilst at the same time pounds innocent women and children, blocks aid into besieged areas, and not only detains but also tortures to death peaceful activists and prisoners of conscience.
Day after day, the international community realizes that the removal of the Assad regime is a prerequisite to helping the Syrian people build a civil pluralistic state, which meets the Syrian people’s aspirations for freedom, dignity, and justice.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
