Press Statement
Khalid Saleh
Syrian Coalition Media Office President
August 21, 2014
Five civilians were reportedly killed and many injured when regime forces used poisonous gas in Jober yesterday, on the eve of the first anniversary of the notorious chemical attacks on Ghouta, in which Assad gassed to death over 1400 civilians crossing President Obama’s red line.
We condemn this heinous crime, and we call for an immediate end to the regime’s violation of human rights and international law. Assad will continue to infringe international norms and terrorize Syrians, knowing he will not suffer any consequences. Immediate concrete action is needed if this culture of impunity is to end in Syria, as both extremist groups such as ISIS and the Assad regime have been left to carry out beheadings and massacre innocent civilians freely, without fear of accountability.
