We strongly condemn the “Islamic State’s” ugly and shameless execution of a seven member Ismaili family near the town of Salamiyah, rural Hama. These residents have been among the first to take to the streets in 2011 calling for freedom and dignity.
Our many warnings of the growing threat of the extremist “Islamic State” must be taken seriously. It is time the international community takes firm steps and provides the assistance needed for the Free Syrian Army to confront “the Islamic State” and protect the Syrian people, from all backgrounds, from the extremism of IS but also from the terrorism of the Assad regime.
