The Syrian Coalition is closely following the acts and measures the militias of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), backed by the US-led coalition forces, are trying to enforce in the city of Raqqa as well as in various areas in northeastern Syria.
These acts and measures promoting terrorist groups and foreign ideologies and seeking to sow discord among the Syrian people are highly detrimental to the interests of the Syrian people. The international anti-ISIS coalition has responsibility for putting an end to these acts as they seriously endanger the future of Raqqa city.
The Coalition particularly denounces the raising of photographs and banners linked to Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) as well as the crackdown on efforts aimed at preserving the unified Syrian identity.
The Coalition stresses the need for allowing residents of Raqqa to return to their homes as soon as possible and enabling them to manage their affairs, warning of any attempts to sow chaos or provoke new conflicts in the city.
